Biography

Keshab Adhikari, a resident of Kathmandu, is a programme officer for CIFOR-ICRAF in Nepal. He joined the CIFOR-ICRAF Asia continental programme as country scientist for Nepal in June 2020, followinga long career with Nepal’s Ministry of Agriculture, where he held various positions, including focal point for agroforestry. Keshab has been working with ICRAF since 2014, when its activities began in Nepal. As horticulture expert and focal point for agroforestry, he helped implement numerous joint initiatives between ICRAF, the Inter-Ministerial Coordination Committee (IMCC) and the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), focusing on agroforestry policy. These efforts culminated in the National Agroforestry Policy of 2019, making Nepal the second country in the world – after India – to adopt such a policy.With a master’s degree in horticulture, he has devoted over three decades to research, extension, coordination and management in agriculture, horticulture and agroforestry. Recognized as one of the country’s leading experts, he played a pivotal role in shaping Nepal’s agroforestry policy, and has contributed his expertise to similar policy initiatives in other countries.
