Dr Abdu Abdelkadir is the Research Management Coordinator at CIFOR-ICRAF Ethiopia, a position he has held since 2024. Prior to this role, he served for nearly five years as a consultant with CIFOR-ICRAF, contributing to projects supported by SIDA and the Government of Norway. With over 30 years ofexperience in Ethiopia’s higher education and research institutions, Dr Abdelkadir has worked as aneducator, researcher and administrator. He served as dean for seven years and deputy dean for two years at Wondo Genet College of Forestry and Natural Resources, one of Ethiopia’s leading forestry institutions. Dr Abdelkadir also represented the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Ethiopia for nearly two years.He holds a PhD in forest biology/agroforestry from Iowa State University, an MSc in environmental forestry from the University of North Wales, Bangor, and a BSc in plant sciences from Alemaya Collegeof Agriculture, Addis Ababa University. He also completed postdoctoral training in Agroforestry at Oregon State University. Dr Abdelkadir has published more than 40 scholarly articles, focusing on agroforestry and soil–water–plant interactions in mixed farming and forestry systems.
