Biography

Dr Abrham Hailu is a tree breeding and seed source scientist at CIFOR-ICRAF working under the Treesand Forest Genetic Resources, and Biodiversity theme, where he leads the Right Tree for the Right Purpose (RTRP) project in Uganda. Before joining CIFOR-ICRAF, Dr Hailu worked as a researcher and inleadership roles within Ethiopia’s national agricultural research system, and served as an adjunct professor at the University of Gondar. He previously served as Senior Project Officer for the Provision of Adequate Tree Seed Portfolios (PATSPO) project implemented by ICRAF and national partners in Ethiopia from 2018 to 2025. He holds a PhD in forestry from the University of Natural Resources andLife Sciences (BOKU), Vienna, Austria. He also holds a master’s in mountain forestry from the same university and a BSc in forestry from Wondo Genet College of Forestry, Hawassa University, Ethiopia.
