Biography

Dr Chabi Adeyemi is an environmental geoscientist and climate resilience specialist at CIFOR-ICRAF,where he supports the participatory development and scaling of climate-smart agriculture technologies across West and Central Africa. He joined CIFOR-ICRAF in 2019 and brings expertise in forest conservation, biomass modelling for GHG estimation in the AFOLU sector, renewable energy, REDD+ and integration of climate adaptation and mitigation into local and national policies. His work focuses on building climate-resilient technologies and supporting national development strategies aligned with environmental sustainability goals.Before joining CIFOR-ICRAF, Chabi worked as a consultant for WASCAL on climate change, food security, and greenhouse gas monitoring. He also served as a climate adaptation and GIS expert for six municipalities in Benin and held positions with IDRC/IDID as a research coordinator, and with AfricaRiceand the Inland Valley Consortium as a GIS post-master and research assistant. Dr Adeyemi holds a PhD in environmental geoscience from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana, wherehis thesis addressed land-use change and emissions modelling in the Dassari Basin. He also earned an MSc and a master’s in physical geography from Abomey-Calavi University, Benin, and a postgraduate diploma in GIS and remote sensing from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria.
