Dr Alison Castilho is a biologist who coordinates CIFOR-ICRAF’s institutional activities in the Brazilian Amazon. With over 20 years of experience in sustainable rural development, socioenvironmentalgovernance and the Amazonian bioeconomy, he leads interdisciplinary teams, strengthens strategic partnerships and supports evidence-based policy design, particularly in the state of Pará. His work focuses on bridging science, public policy and traditional knowledge to promote inclusive, community-centred solutions for the Amazon. He contributes to initiatives in forest landscape restoration, agroforestry, REDD+, climate finance, agroecological transitions and community-based bioeconomy models.Dr Castilho collaborates closely with scientific networks, social movements, and public and privatesector actors to foster co-learning and territorial innovation with both regional and Pan-Amazonianimpact. He holds a PhD in conservation and biodiversity, a master’s degree in family farming and sustainable development, and a specialization in environmental management. Dr Castilho also represents CIFOR-ICRAF in national and international strategic forums, contributing to multilateral initiatives such as the FAO Fire Hub.
