Doctor Amy Ickowitz is a senior scientist at CIFOR-ICRAF, where she works within the Governance, Equity and Well-being team. She co-leads Nutri-scapes, a transformative partnership platform that examines the interconnections between food, nutrition and tree-based ecosystems. A development and natural resource economist by training, Amy has led and contributed to numerous multidisciplinary research projects over the past decade exploring the links between food systems and the natural environment. Her current work also includes contributions to One Health initiatives, particularly examining how tropical forest environments influence human health. Much of her research focuses on sub-Saharan Africa and Indonesia, providing insights into sustainable and equitable development strategies.Amy holds a PhD in economics from the University of California, Riverside, and has been with CIFOR since 2012. Before that, she served as an assistant professor of economics at Clark University in Massachusetts, USA.
